She is a teacher, friend, confidante, protector, nurturer, counselor, cook, chauffeur, maid, a beacon on a stormy sea, unconditional love, a rare gem.
She is wise, compassionate, loving, patient, passionate, generous, selfless, insightful, strong, beautiful, devoted, always there to wipe away the tears, the best hugger.
She is this and so much more. She is a mother.
Growing up in the midwest, apple blossoms and lilac bushes have always reminded me of the approach of Mothers’ Day. Both are in full bloom in Ohio and tomorrow we honor all mothers, those who brought us into this world, as well as those unselfishly fulfilling this most precious of roles.
Happy Mothers’ Day!

What lovely comments from a truly lovely and beauitful soul. We miss you both so much.
Thank you Les. We miss you and David as well and still hope to find a way to see you both yet this summer.
For all those out there that have your mother, love her, love her. love her, because when she is gone, it hurts!
A very happy Mother’s Day to all.
I agree Marsha. My mom passed when she was 38. It is so important to tell everyone close to us how we feel because life is so brief. Happy Mothers’ Day to you Marsha. 🙂
Oh my goodness. That is much too early to lose your mother. I am sure she was a beautiful, loving lady.
Yes, she was.
What a lovely message to send to your mother
I’m guessing you are filling this role quite often yourself Alastair, as well as that of a father. 🙂
I am. The kids are wanting to go to their own mother less and less. My daughter talks to me about things she should talk to her mother about.
When we had our mother’s day over here in March, I received Mother’s Day wishes from my friends. It seem rather awkward 😆
You should be proud. 🙂
I am 🙂
What a nice tribute to our moms! The apple blossom is beautiful. The apple trees are blooming in Cannonville, Utah also…
Thanks and Happy Mother’s Day to you. 🙂
Thank you for this post, LuAnn. I wish I could have been this kind of mother. I know my daughters are like this, and I am grateful for that.
You still can be Joan. 🙂
So enjoyed your beautiful flow with words. Wonderful poem. Thanks!
Thanks. Hope the weather has improved out west.
Thanks Nicole. I am betting you possess all these traits. 🙂
Oh that is so incredibly kind! I actually am a rollercoaster of a person sometimes. I have too much energy which can bring me to immense highs and lows. Just my crazy personality. Best of all is I married an even keel husband who keeps me in line! 🙂
This sounds a lot like me, high-strung with a Type B hubby. 🙂
Phew…I’m not the only one then! Many times I wished I was more low key but then again my energy is what allows me to do what I do! 🙂
A beautiful tribute.
Thanks Grandma. 🙂
Happy Mother’s Day ……..Mom !! 😉
Thanks dear Ralph. 🙂
You just described my mother, Perfectly! LuAnn. Your talent with the written word is as gifted as ever. Hoping you’re getting a little bit of relaxation this weekend LuAnn. Love reading you, as always! 🙂 xx, Beautiful photograph!
Thanks Penny! I am cooking what will hopefully be a tasty meal for Terry’s folks and his sister and niece tomorrow, but beyond that, I am getting a bit of rest. Hope you have a wonderful Mothers’ Day Penny. 🙂
