For a second year we are back to work as Camp Hosts at San Elijo State Beach and tomorrow begins the big work week. Imagine if you will a bluff overlooking the Pacific Ocean at one of the best surfing spots on the West Coast and that is where our RV sits. With near perfect temps, pounding surf to lull you to sleep at night, and intoxicating sea air, how can this be called work? Yes, what we do classifies as work, but there is plenty of time for play and if we don’t get more than our fair share of exercise, shame on us. We literally can walk or bike most any place we need to go, unless of course we want to head a few miles south to do more San Diego exploring, and we will be doing plenty of that.
For now I will leave you with a small sampling of the sights right outside our door:

Love your fantastic photos. You are just getting better and better. I remember, as a child, popping the bulbs on the kelp. I’m glad you enjoyed yourself so much to go back and do it again. Looking forward to see what else you’re going to do while you are there.
I still pop the bulbs on the kelp! I guess you just can’t take the kid out of some of us! Thanks Joan. 🙂
Well back to envious again, great photos LuAnn. I can’t wait to hear about your activities there! 🙂
I have to say that the weather here is pretty sweet right now so we will enjoy it while it lasts. 🙂
Yes, do enjoy it looks wonderfully inviting. 🙂
Great back yard!
We certainly can’t complain. Thanks for dropping by. 🙂
LuAnn & Terry, Rog and I are traveling to San Diego this Friday eve and staying until Sunday noon. Will the two of you be at San Elijo working this weekend? We sure would like to see you guys. Except for Saturday morning, we are pretty much free to drive up to San Elijo so let us know your schedule. Gayl & Roger
We are working this weekend. Tomorrow is the am shift and Sunday is our pm shift. Would love to see you both. 🙂
Just realized that our trip to San Diego is on November 9th, 10th & 11th, and not this immediate weekend.
We work on the 11th only that week…come on down! 🙂
I am so jealous right now!
I am so enjoying your posts and your pictures. Thanks, since I can’t get up and go physically posts like this let me travel vicariously
I know what you mean and I feel the same way about your photos…just love them! 🙂
What a tough job you’ve landed! Sounds like you’re enjoying the heck out of it! I’m thinking you might get bored with that weather and want to head back north again sometime. Love your photos. They really, truly keep getting better all the time. That first sunset is to die for…..
Yes, we have landed a tough job but somebody’s got to do it! We love Oregon’s many moods so you may be right, with all this sun I may begin longing to head north. 🙂 Thanks for the vote of confidence with my photos.
Love your fantastic photos
Thank you Stefan. 🙂
Love the header photo. You two sure picked an awful place to spend the winter…sun, surf, blue skies, ocean, beach, flowers. What are you thinking…hehe. Enjoy all that beauty!
Yes, we had better do a better job next winter of selecting a nicer weather spot (lol). When are you heading out of Ohio? It’s about time, isn’t it?
What an awesome place!
And aren’t you smart for finding such a great work site. Makes me want to visit.
Really enjoyed the pictures.
It is a great location and the work is really fun. 🙂
Thanks Boomie 🙂
Wow, what a great display of photos. So jealous….I know San Diego is a tough gig. Let me know if you need any help…lol. Enjoy!
Seriously Ingrid, they are always looking for good people so if you find yourselves in need of a warm home for winter, you might want to keep this in mind. You might enjoy other times of the year here also. 🙂
Thanks for the heads up. We WILL definitely keep that in mind. I think the next few months might bring some clarity into my life!
Very good 🙂
I didn’t realise you were in Cardiff. Is that Cardiff UK or a different Cardiff?
No, that would be Cardiff, California. Is Cardiff, UK worthy of a visit?
Don’t know … never been there. I know the Doctor has problems with the TARDIS every time he goes there though 😉
Good to know. 🙂
The images of pounding surf and happy energy are wonderful.
Yes they are. As I mentioned to another commenter, I have promised myself more barefoot time on the beach, surf happily lapping at my toes. Such a cathartic experience for me. 🙂
Envious of your job 🙂 The beach photos are gorgeous!
It’s a lovely area. I promised myself more barefoot time on the beach this year, surf lapping at my toes (sigh). 🙂
Wow and wow, I hope we come back to CA and check this place out. I miss the beach! Great pictures, cant wait to hear what its like to work camp there.
We loved it last winter so if you may be interested in the future, let me know and I can pass it along. 🙂
We will keep this in mind.
What a lovely beach for doing push-ups. 🙂 That sunset is stunning.
Thanks! It is also a great beach for doing yoga and meditating in the morning. 🙂
Hi, are you changing the labels on your posts by chance? Every time you do my RSS reader thinks it’s a new post and I get a flood of unread posts.
No I haven’t. I can’t imagine why that would be happening. Sorry to inconvenience you like that.
No worries…especially if its nothing you did! It’s happened before with other WordPress blogs, and every other time it was because the author was re-organizing the labels. Maybe my RSS feed reader is having a bad hair day? 🙂
I enjoy reading your blog, and especially LOVE your reviews of campgrounds and boondocking locations.
Although I love the visits and the comments, I am going to guess that this comment may belong to Nina at Wheeling It. Once we went full-time and I read her campground reviews, I didn’t even attempt to write one. Her reviews are so darn good, in fact all her posts are excellent! 🙂
Cuddly images this time, and I love it very much! And it looks so sharp.
Thanks Rommel. Given you are the photographer extraordinaire, I am blushing with pride over here. 🙂
